San Diego, Calif., Aug. 20, 2013 – Power Analytics Corporation recently unveiled an important set of updates to its Paladin modeling and analysis platform – Paladin Software DesignBase 5.1 Service Pack 1. This most recent version adds a range of additional functionality and user recommended benefits setting a new standard in power systems modeling and electrical software design.

The updated features also increase ease-of-use and significantly reduce grounding design time. With 38 design/simulation programs in the DesignBase solution, Power Analytics offers a broad platform for power systems design, modeling and simulation.

“With this latest release we have made changes across a wide range of programs from Arc Flash labeling to ground grid improvements to protective device coordination to short circuit annotations, text report viewer as well as changes in the Actrix/GUI,” said Kevin Meagher, Power Analytics chief executive officer and chief technology officer. “We’ve also made sweeping updates to the DesignBase Library Manager and to the Harmonics program, Power Flow, Motor Starting, Transient Stability and Electromagnetic Transient Analysis Programs (EMTAP).”

Some of the many new features and functions now available with DesignBase 5.1 Service Pack 1 include:

  • Easy import/export of drawings to or from AutoCad, Microsoft Office applications and Windows environments.
  • DesignBase emulates Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access user interfaces, and users can import or export any file from these Microsoft applications.
  • New arc flash, short circuit and protective device coordination program features
  • New features in power flow and harmonics programs
