Hardware-Agnostic Intelligent Software Will Provide Secure Real-Time Management, Analytics and Optimization for New York’s Microgrids
The company has been selected to perform microgrid feasibility studies for 17 New York Prize communities, as recently announced by Governor Andrew Cuomo and New York State Energy Research Development Authority (NYSERDA). During the build out of these microgrids in 2016, the Paladin MPMS system will be incorporated to optimize the microgrid operations, power flow and utility interconnection—bringing each community reliable, resilient and cost-effective electricity.
Paladin MPMS is a real-time, model-based optimization software solution that takes an eagle’s-eye view of a microgrid system and the point of common coupling with the local utility. It considers all of the current system capabilities, constraints, limitations, demands and market pricing, managing power grid elements to maximize efficiency and safety. This intelligent software works with any hardware and enables multiple devices and applications that are required to operate a microgrid with the reliability mandated for operations and financial interconnection to the macro grid.
“By taking a real-time, situational awareness approach to microgrid optimization, MPMS can anticipate, react to and support real-world situations,” said Kevin Meagher, President of Power Analytics. This is something typical hardware microgrid controllers, which use pre-programmed logic embedded in individual microgrid elements, cannot do.”
Power Analytics’ software currently protects more than $120 billion in customer assets around the world. Most recently, Paladin MPMS was implemented at the InteGrid Lab at Colorado State University, as part of the Department of Defense’s Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP). It also drives the University of California, San Diego campus microgrid, several U.S. military microgrid installations, and many more microgrids around the world.
During the New York REV Summit, Power Analytics will demonstrate the Paladin MPMS system and share its capabilities with New York Prize winners, New York distribution utilities and all other interested industry participants. The company will also be providing live demonstrations of its Real-Time Arc Flash™ solution and EnergyNet™, its turnkey software energy marketplace and financial transactions platform.
Visit the Power Analytics exhibit booth at the NY REV Summit for more information or to arrange a private demonstration.
