San Diego, Calif., Nov. 12, 2012 – The U. S. Army Aviation and Missile Research Development and Engineering Center (AMRDEC) System Simulation and Development Directorate (SSDD) recently selected Power Analytics Corporation’s Paladin® DesignBase™ software for their new energy and environment systems laboratory in Huntsville, Ala. The DesignBase software will be used to design and optimize smart microgrid/command centers for energy surety and reliability and, most importantly, save warfighters’ lives by reducing the fuel consumption of diesel generators used to provide energy on the battlefield.

The Army’s SSDD laboratory will utilize the same software used by the Center for Electromechanics at the University of Texas at Austin for smart grid research. The software, Paladin DesignBase, creates a detailed knowledge base of all the components, processes, and performance specifications of an entire electrical distribution system.

“We are excited to assist SSDD in establishing their new smart grid lab and providing valuable modeling tools to enable the design of smart grids for expeditionary forward operating base microgrids,” said Rex Luzader, Vice President, Public Sector Business Development for Power Analytics. “We extend our appreciation to the Center for Electromechanics at UT Austin for publishing the report, “Modeling and Simulation Roadmap to Enhance Electrical Energy Security of U.S. Naval Bases,” used as a reference in selecting our Paladin software for use in the laboratory.”
